High Fiber Food

Dietary high fiber foods contain the indigestible parts of the plant products we consume. Macromolecules such as carbohydrates, fats and proteins in foods; starting from the mouth, it is absorbed by breaking down into building blocks in digestive organs such as stomach and small intestine. However, enzymes that can digest fiber, or fiber foods, are not available in humans. For this reason, the fiber part of the food reaches the large intestine (colon) without being digested.

Fibrous foods in foods are divided into two basic groups according to whether they can dissolve in water or not:

Soluble Fiber: This type of fiber, which can dissolve in water, has a gel-like structure. Most of the fibers fall under the soluble group. Soluble fiber helps regulate blood sugar and cholesterol. Soluble fiber is high in foods such as oats, legumes, citrus fruits, apples, and carrots.
